Preserving the Harvest Book {Review & Giveaway}- CLOSED

I was so excited to get "Preserving the Harvest" from Storey Publishing ...that is until I had no harvest to preserve.  Apparently the dirt we bought had weed seed in it as well and well.... it overtook my entire garden before I could save it.  I am so sad!  We only had onions and peas this year.

However- If you had a great harvest this year then you will LOVE this book!

The Big Book of Preserving the Harvest: 150 Recipes for Freezing, Canning, Drying and Pickling Fruits and Vegetables

It could use a few colored pictures in there for me, but I love that it has an array of ideas of ways you can save your harvest and enjoy it throughout the winter.

It has 150 recipes for Freezing, Canning, Drying and Pickling Fruits and Vegetables!  It explains everything very well and has a lot of tips to help you succed!  I reccomend checking this book out!  (and making sure your dirt is weed-seed free!)

If you had a great harvest then you will love this great GIVEAWAY!

My garden has had a slow start. We harvested some swiss chard, small tomatoes, pea, raspberries and yellow zuchinni. But I didn't get enough of anything to can, which is sad. We are still waiting on watermelon, cantelope, green beans and potatoes.

We had a great garden this year! Our first "BIG" garden. We were able to can green beans and salsa. I also froze quite a few quarts of corn. Next year we'd love to can more green beans and salsa and do more with the tomatoes. :)

This was a bad year for us, too. There was a death in my family, and I didn't have time to care for it like I should. And it was so hot and dry, too...

We don't have a garden cuz we live in the student housing. But if we did, I'd plant cherry tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins and corn! YUM! I can't wait to have a garden one day...

We didn't actually get to much gardening this year except my daughter's pumpkins! She has huge pumpkins that are taking over out front!

My gardening experience this year consisted of raiding the gardens of others and supporting local farmers since our apartment doesn't lend itself to gardening right now. But soon we'll get a garden!

We grew asparagus! We have to wait until next year to eat them. And we had at least 25 volunteer pumpkin plants.

Garden did well. Wish I could have been in better health to plant more.

My garden did ok this year. Last year I lost all my tomatoes to tomato blight, so just harvesting some tomatoes made this year good.

I had every intention of starting a garden at our new house and my husband even built me a nice, large raised bedding box...but...alas I was pregnant and due in mid july, so I got too tired and big to get it started and maintain it.
