"Awakening Avery" is one of the best book I have read in a long time that dealt with a real life situation. What I mean by that is that her book has a story in it that really could happen to any of us or we could be any of the characters. Laurie Lewis or L.C. Lewis is a really great author. She grew up in Maryland and uses places she loves with a mixture of many friends and families personalities to create a family or historical dramas. She has written 5 novels with "Awakening Avery" being the most recent release. I am honored she let me read such a wonderful book. Here is a review this book.

Avery Thompson is a mom with three wonderful kids. Her husband died younger than expected due to not making dietary changes doctors repeatedly told him to fix. Avery is heartbroken and depressed. Her kids are worried about who she is becoming. She doesn't really know who she is anymore. Her son Wes introduced the idea that she should come with him to Anna Maria Island located in Florida. They both needed to get away. She was very hesitant to leave the life she knew.

Gabriel Carson is a widower. He lost his wife when his two daughters Gia and Emilia were young. He gave his girls everything they wanted and always made sure they were loved, that they loved each other, and that they were always protected. He eventually saw the mess he created. His girls were spoiled and did not know how to do many things their selves. They didn't know how to find solutions to their own problems. He decided he needed to get a job and refresh while making his girls move out and venture into the real world so that they can learn how to take care of their own problems.

Avery has a condo in Baltimore on the harbor and was deciding to sell when her condo neighbors Teddie and Rider Davis told her about house swapping. She swapped houses with Gabriel Carson whose house happened to be at Anna Marie Island and hers house happened to be where Gabriel had to go for work. Through her wonderful neighbors she saw life in a better way. She started taking care to fix herself up with make up and doing her hair again. She meets many people who will change her life.

Will Gabriel's family get the answers they need to make family life more successful for him and his girls? Will his girls finally see they can figure out life's problems and find love? Will Avery and Gabriel ever become more than friends? How will every ones life turn and bend in ways we may see in ourselves?

I can relate to this story in a very personal way. My father died at the age of 36. I always seemed to watching out for my mother. I would do chores without being told. I would be a peacemaker in our home. I wanted her to be happy and okay. When she married my stepfather I was still worried if he would be right for her and would she be happy. I also would worry if she was gone too long. I sometimes would panic at her being late at the thought of her possibly leaving me too. I wanted her to live and for a long time. After all she is still young. I can see how Avery’s kid had a worried reaction to her depressed state and how they wanted her to be happy and be herself again.

Read this amazing story. There is so much to love in this book and so many characters to relate to. Find out that there s away to renew ourselves through the trial in our lives.

Thanks for loving my book so much, Nichole. I wrote it after my own husband suffered a heart attack. He's doing great, but it was a terrifying time. That's when this book was born. All the best,

Laurie Lewis
